‘Fastest piece of furniture’ world record broken!

A 47-year old inventor from Buckinghamshire reportedly set a world record for having the fastest piece of furniture and driving it twice down a racetrack, reaching a top speed of 130mph.

The dining table, named ‘Fast Food’ was raced down Nottinghamshire’s 500m track at Santa Pod. It comfortably overtook the record set by a sofa in 2007 of 92mph.The table had a nitrous oxide kit installed onto it to give the vehicle an extra boost.

However, the world record will only become official when Guiness accepts it.

Mr Watkins claims that Fast Food took one year to build, and has experience with building unusual cars by himself. He previously held the world record for the world’s lowest car and he still holds the record for having the world’s smallest car.

What did he say about his latest record? "It was actually worse than I thought it would be. It felt like 200mph."
