Overlooked boardroom equipment costs

A study carried out by Independent UK research company, Dynamic Markets have revealed that the majority of UK companies ignore the costs associated with presentation equipment problems, that an IT manager spends about 10% of their time fixing problems with this equipment, and that almost 70% of presenters have experienced meeting room equipment failure/problems. Cumulatively, it seems that the worker time trying to fix these equipment problems are heavily costing British businesses.

When asked to give an estimate off how much is spent on maintaining meeting room equipment in a year, a surprising 57% said that they didn’t keep track of them! Out of those that did give a figure, the average cost was calculated to be at least £8,000 a year (up to £12,500 including IT staff costs)- that’s over £100million a year for big businesses alone. The projector was shown to be the most unreliable piece of equipment, with 46% off presenters experiencing projector problems in the last year.

The study highlights that when companies buy presentation equipment, they have to look beyond just the direct cost of the equipment, and include the support and maintenance costs as well. They should invest in pieces of equipment that are user friendly and requires low maintenance. Remember; the cheapest option may not be the most cost effective one.

The need for low maintenance, highly reliable audiovisual equipment has never been as strong as it is now. You can find a great range of good quality, highly reliable presentation equipment here at TheOfficeFurnitureSupermarket.com.
